 Dr. Tracy A. Wright

Dr. Tracy A. Wright is a physical therapist and educator with 25 years of experience in the healthcare field.  She founded Wright Physical Therapy and Wellness to fulfill her passion of improving the lives of those who struggle with movement problems related to aging and neurological diseases.

Our Mission

Our mission is to utilize our experience, expertise, and compassion to maximize our client’s movement, function and overall quality of life.  Our organization was founded to provide a viable and effective rehab and wellness solution for people with difficulty accessing traditional outpatient rehab and wellness settings. We are unique in utilizing a holistic, client and care-partner centered approach.   We will deliver best practice rehab and wellness services aligned with neurological recovery principles and evidence-based practice.

Clinical Experience:

Dr. Wright has practiced physical therapy in a variety of settings including home health, inpatient rehabilitation, acute care, and outpatient.   She held physical therapy administrative, research, staff and PRN positions in Shepherd Center’s Acquired Brain Injury inpatient and outpatient programs over a period of 12 years.  During her time at Shepherd she received training and credentialing in the use of multiple rehab interventions and technologies including: Bioness and other FES devices, Locomotor training, and vestibular rehab. Her main areas of interest during this time included best practice in use of rehab technology for neurological patient populations and vestibular rehab with brain injury.  She also practiced in outpatient geriatrics in primarily retirement communities and assisted living facilities with Genesis Rehab for 8 years. In her time with Genesis Rehab she expanded her knowledge and experience in working with older adults with dementia, Parkinsons, CHF, and COPD. For the past 6 years she has practiced in the Brenau Faculty Practice specializing in working with patients with a variety of conditions including balance problems, stroke, ataxia, brain injury, dementia, Parkinsons and patients with multiple chronic conditions.

Educational experience:

In her role as an educator she is passionate about teaching students and others about aging, neurological and geriatric rehabilitation and the vital communication skills necessary when working with these patient populations.  She began her career as a clinical educator providing mentoring and education to DPT students and staff at the Shepherd Center. During her time at Shepherd and Brenau she organized multiple continuing education courses for healthcare professionals. She later progressed to an academic career becoming a founding faculty member of Brenau University’s Doctorate of Physical Therapy program. During her academic career her scholarship was focused on wellness programs for caregivers and the effects of early clinical immersion on DPT students.  Her love of teaching continues and she is excited to utilize her educational skills with her clients and their families.
